Quick fixes
Nothing happens when I click or drag the wheel
Open the app's settings from the menu bar and check that Accessibility access shows as granted. After an update, remove the app from Privacy & Security > Accessibility and allow it again.
Mission Control opens, but dragging doesn't switch desktops
Turn on Move left a space and Move right a space in System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts... > Mission Control, and make sure you have more than one desktop.
macOS won't open the app
Right-click it in Applications and choose Open. On macOS 15 or later, use Open Anyway in Privacy & Security. More
